Nail Polish Color Trends for Winter 2025

As we enter further into the new year, it's right around the time to get rid of those Christmas nails and introduce our nails to those winter colors taking over. We still have two technical months of winter left, giving you plenty of time to try out the jewel tones, frosty neutrals, and designs that strike your fancy. There's got to be a color or two here that has the power to defrost that seasonal depression for a while, right?

*Disclaimer: If you purchase products from the provided Benable links, I may earn a commission as most are affiliate links. However, I hand-selected them all in hopes you'd love them so please don't be deterred.

Pops of Color

Jewel tones are really making their mark this winter. There are so many darker shades of blue, red, purple, and green to love but there are still some lighter shades to enjoy if that's more your speed (I get it, don't worry).

Tiffany/Pastel Blue

Tiffany Blue is a well-known, iconic color that never goes out of style. The mix of baby and pastel blues, mint green, and turquoise shades is a really gorgeous color option with several different shades to choose from.

Royal Blue

A stunning deep blue has been a winter staple in my personal nail color rotation over the years and I'm thrilled that others are experiencing the electric color again this season. Adding a shimmer-type polish on top would be a game-changer too.

Deep Cherry Red

Deep red and burgundy colors were spotted all over the place this past autumn and the shade is still holding strong in the early months of 2025, as well. Isn't it just gorgeous?

Classic Red

You can't go wrong with a classic red. It's quite literally a universal color that works in all four seasons of every year. AND you could be really bold and match your favorite red lipstick to your manicure. Who doesn't want to do that at least once?

Grayish Blue

I've never really opted into the gray nail polish trends in the past. I have always drifted toward more vibrant colors. However, a grayish-blue type of hue is really capturing my attention lately.

Lavender

As a girl who prefers and obsesses over lighter, pastel shades of colors, seeing lavender have its moment is super exciting. I've personally always seen it as more of a spring color but, hey, there are no rules.

Sapphire/Navy

Deeper than royal blue but lighter than black, sapphire and navy shades are a perfect mood setter for those cold, snowy nights.

Amethyst Purple

I've been loving and craving a good purple polish lately but didn't know if that would be too bold or outlandish. I don't need anyone's approval except God's but I was stoked to see some pretty amethyst shades trending.

Emerald

If you're like me and have had Wicked on the brain since November, your mind immediately pictures Elphaba defying gravity when you see these gorgeous green shades. However, they stand well on their own and look stunning on the nails.

Neutrals

The Pantone color of the year for 2025 is "Mocha Mousse" which is certainly prevalent in some of the popular neutral shades popping up this fall.

Caramel

Although I haven't been an expert at keeping up with the trends in my 22 years of life thus far, I don't recall ever seeing caramel shades like this. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention.

P.S. It's pronounced "car-mel" in my house. I don't care that there's an extra a in there and that "care-a-mel" makes sense phonetically.

Espresso

Admittedly, "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter was my top-streamed song on my 2024 Spotify Wrapped (Somehow. I don't even remember listening to it that much). Therefore, it only makes sense that the world continuously has coffee on the brain when choosing their nail polish looks. I don't blame them; a rich, chocolate brown is stunning.

Dark Beige

We all need a break from bright, overwhelming colors every once in a while so why not add a dark beige to your rotation? It's a sleek neutral that keeps your nails looking nice without being too overstimulating. It also works great if you spend a lot of time in office settings or professional spaces.

Stormy Gray

Catapulting off of what I said earlier about never getting on the gray train, I'm starting to realize that this color matches the sky outdoors 99% of winter days and fits the season's mood quite well, doesn't it?

Iridescent

I've been into iridescent polishes for a minute now and I've only become more obsessed over time. Look how ethereal they appear!

Sheer & Shimmer

There's never a bad time to break out a sheer pink or nude to lighten up your manicure.

Earthy Metallics (copper, bronze, brass)

Metallic shades in nail polish are so fascinating to me. It's almost like jewelry for your fingernails. Who needs a rose gold ring when you can have rose gold nails instead?

Designs/Finishes

Shimmer and shine appearances are coming out on top this winter. Iridescents, metallics, designs, sparkles. Anything to make your manicure truly pop.

Rhinestones

I used to put rhinestone stickers on my nails as a kid so this is such a throwback for me. Adult rhinestones are so in.

Magnetic

What is this sorcery? I don't understand how it works. Looks super cool though.

Intricate Designs

I'm not talented enough to paint designs on my own nails so when I want a fun design, as is in style this year, I use press-ons or stickers. They last up to 4 weeks for me every time. They're amazing. Regardless, the point is to not be afraid to try out those designs you've been eyeing this year.

Glitter Frames

I haven't seen anyone on my social media feeds try out this glitter frame design yet but I have no doubt that I won't be able to escape it before long. I'm looking forward to it, honestly.
